We offer you a retrospective of the 2024 events of the European ThermEcoWat project through this first newsletter and a selection of articles.

The ThermEcoWat project, started in March 2024 and for a period of 3 years, is part of Priority 1 of the Interreg Sudoe programme: Preservation of the natural capital of the SUDOE territory and adaptation to Climate Change and in Specific Objective 2.5 Access to water / sustainable water management. It brings together 8 partners in 3 countries of South-West Europe: France, Spain and Portugal.

Kick-off meeting
of the ThermEcoWat project

Article 1

In March 2024, the ThermEcoWat project was launched with a consortium of 8 partners, aiming to strengthen the resilience of thermal territories to the growing challenges of climate change.

ThermEcoWat, a project of the Interreg Sudoe programme led by Thermauvergne, brings together elected officials, scientists and stakeholders from South-West Europe to work on a more resilient thermal resort model. This innovative project aims to optimize the management of water resources while promoting sustainable territorial development through dynamic transnational cooperation.

Delivery of ERDF grant agreements
for the ThermEcoWat project

A seminar on project management was organised in Santander, marking the handing over of ERDF grant agreements to the partners of the 34 approved projects. This event provided an opportunity for learning and exchange between territorial actors from South-West Europe in order to maximise the impact of these European initiatives.

Meeting of the associated partners
of the ThermEcoWat project, led by Thermauvergne

The first meeting of the group of French associated partners of the ThermEcoWat project, in the framework of the Interreg Sudoe 21-27 programme, marked a high point to strengthen cooperation and commitment around thermal issues in Europe.

1st Transnational Workshop
of the European project ThermEcoWat in Royat, France

On 19 and 20 June 2024, Thermauvergne welcomed the European delegation ThermEcoWat to Royat for a workshop focused on data management and the use of thermal waters for energy purposes. French, Spanish and Portuguese elected officials, technicians and scientists tried to develop a working method, enriching their discussions with a visit to the thermal facilities and the energy platform of Evaux-les-Bains, a unique site in France.

of the ThermEcoWat project in Caldes de Montbui, Spain

During the second Transnational Workshop of the ThermEcoWat project, elected officials and experts discussed the provisions, constraints, natural risks, legal and economic obstacles that spas face in the face of the challenges of climate change.

Presentation of the European cooperation project ThermEcoWat
at the National Thermal Meetings organised by the French Thermal and Climate Federation

Thermauvergne presented the European project ThermEcoWat at the National Thermal Meetings of the French Thermal and Climate Federation in Gréoux-les-Bains, from 6 to 8 November 2024. This event bringing together professionals from the thermal sector presented several European cooperation initiatives, addressing issues such as the quality of thermal waters and adaptation to climate change, while highlighting three innovative projects: the GreenSPAS, ThermEcoWat and Aquapred projects.
